A casual Thanksgiving table is the kind I love to sit at! Holiday meals are always special but you can easily achieve a pretty setup without fancy decorations or fine tableware. You can eliminate a lot of turkey-day stress by keeping the tabletop simple. But that never means that your guests won’t think it’s fabulous! Make it pretty with natural elements, mix-and-match dishes, and lots of love and your feast will be a hit! A casual table where fine etiquette is not required will always create a relaxed atmosphere. You might find your friends and family will linger long after the meal has ended. Conversations around a table can lead to some of the finest memories. So let’s make the season bright…
around a casual thanksgiving table!
merry-making is on the top of everyone’s list during holidays…including the host! don’t fret about what dishes or decorations you use. blending holiday faves with everyday staples is easy and still looks grand!
you’ve probably heard me say this before, but i love to blend linen napkins with the paper variety…
disposable napkins are handy for messy fingers, come in beautiful patterns, and layering always looks lovely.
tiny ears of corn are a pretty detail that could be used as a place card too!
decor tip:
the ears of corn are actually “bowl filler”. a reminder to think outside the box AND get double duty from your decorations. you can display these in a pretty bowl on a coffee table in the weeks leading up to your dinner!
easy centerpiece diy
a centerpiece can be just about anything you want to set in the center of your table…
an oversized bowl filled with dried flowers is an easy and inexpensive way to make a big impact!
diy candle holders can be made with any container filled with floral foam, faux or dried materials, and battery or refillable candles…
decor tip:
never use wax candles if they will be in close contact with any flammable materials. battery candles or refillable tapers that hold liquid paraffin and won’t burn down are the safest. and as with any real flames, always keep them monitored.
once you insert your candle into the craft foam, you can embellish the base with your favorite materials to make a centerpiece unique to you!
jute pumpkins fill in the gaps on the table…
along with a few ceramic beauties from around my house!
first course decor
serve up your apps or first course selections in something pretty and let it be part of the table decor! a holiday meal is the perfect opportunity to get out treasured pieces…
or dishing up some nibbles on a pretty board…
it can fill a table and allow you to put out extra serving dishes too. it doesn’t matter that they don’t match!
the simplest details like a sprig of rosemary on the block of cheese can add so much for very little effort!
so when you’re ready to set your table this year…don’t follow rules unless you want to!
be casual and…
eat, drink and be very merry!
