A patriotic centerpiece is a fun decoration for 4th of July celebrations…especially when there’s a little crafting involved! Today I want to share a fun idea I’ve been wanting to try using dried blooms from my garden. Simple materials make this DIY project economical and easy enough for kids to do too! So even though the fourth is just around the corner, you can still have some fun making “fireworks” that will last! Let’s get crafty…
fireworks from the garden!
if you have globe alluim in your garden you might think the spent blooms look a little like the shape of fireworks…
the dried petals really resemble the shape of those little sparks of color in the sky!
so let’s take advantage of nature and make some safe and pretty pops of patriotic color for our celebrations!
what you’ll need:
dried globe alluim blooms (craft stores will have dried options that are similar)
blue spray paint
red and white craft paint (anything you have on hand will work)
a paper plate
a bucket to hold the painted blooms while they dry
use the blue spray paint to coat the dried blooms with color…
craft tip:
any spray paint will work but if you’re purchasing paint for this project i’d recommend chalk paint. it dries extra fast and has a soft matte finish.
once the blooms are dried, squeeze out some red and white paint on your paper plate…
simply dip the painted bloom into the paint…
keep tapping it around in the paint until it’s as coated as you like!
it really looks like a little explosion of patriotic color you’d see in the sky! you can use them as safe “sparklers” for kiddos to play with too!
pile them in a rustic container for a festive, holiday decoration…
or pop a few in little vases for some fireworks on your Fourth of July table!
get ready to celebrate with…
a patriotic centerpiece from the garden!
