A school year tradition, “Breakfast Club”, was the brilliant idea of a great gal in our community who gathers volunteers to host moms without kids in tow to a lovely–and relaxing–breakfast directly following school drop off! A wonderful way to start the day with old and new friends sharing stories & advice, enjoying a casual morning meal, and always leaving with our share of good cheer! Unfortunately for me, I haven’t attended many this year…so I decided to host the final gathering for the year at my home to show my support of this great tradition! It’s always an uplifting experience and I can see why some ladies never miss it! With the help of my co-host and friend, the final “Breakfast Club” took on a woodland theme with some simple ideas and supplies that could inspire any event…
woodland touches…
simple items from the house build the theme…
don’t forget when you choose a theme to scour the house for potential props…you might be amazed at what you find. here, wood bowls, a chunky candlestick, & a bunny figurine were gathered from my house (search your kid’s rooms too!). re-purposing what you’ve got can help keep costs to a bare minimum!
a craft store wood slab sits atop a 50 cent bowl from a thrift shop…
now it’s a woodland cake stand!
some fitting goodies for on top…
these cute cupcake liners & picks sparked the inspiration…
wood salad bowls work perfectly…
the spreaders were a fun find at target but disposable wood utensils (such as ice cream spoons) would be so cute too!
fun containers for condiments…
playful food…
these little “mushrooms” were easily made with apple slices and marshmallows secured to a pick…perfect for dipping!
a simple set-up of utensils…
an easy breakfast favorite…finger food style!
tiny frozen pancakes are easy to heat & skewer with your favorite fruit top!
keep them in a chaffing dish & serve them up with cute cups for syrup dipping!
adding some woodland characters…
a bit of moss tucked under the figurines makes them look right at home in the woods! the squirrel & owl came from a craft store & thrift shop respectively, and got a new look with a can of paint. i bought them originally for use this fall but they were perfect for this event!
