Isn’t it funny how an accident can occasionally turn something into unexpected beauty? Putting the wrong ingredient into a recipe can possibly make it better…moving your furniture to clean can spark an idea for a better room arrangement…and spilling paint can create a new, edgy design! Well, something similar happened to me the other day when trying to decorate Easter eggs for the holiday! A little gold ink was intended for swirling whimsical designs around some wooden eggs…maybe even some cursive messages added in to the dainty doodles–but what I got was a defective ink pen and a mess that turned out to be just right!
decorating…by accident!
my plan began with simple wood eggs…
a clean slate…these cute eggs from Hobby Lobby
(in the floral section) were just perfect for embellishing with a gold pen!
only problem–as i was getting the pen ready, it leaked all over the place…
and my first egg rolled right into the inky mess!
hello! kind-of cool looking…including the fingerprints! so here goes nothing…
the rest of the eggs get a roll in the ink creating a gilt splatter look that ended up working for me!
acrylic paints would work too…in multiple colors maybe?
and since there’s no right or wrong…
it would be a fun way for little hands to take part getting “artsy” with eggs!
so it’s a far cry from neatly designed patterns, polka dots, or doodles…
but to me, it’s accidentally pretty!
Check in again April 8th…as i take a little time to spend the Easter holiday with my family! i’ll have plenty prepared for the new month with fresh decorating ideas for spring and plenty of inspiration for those much anticipated backyard & patio gatherings!
see you then!
