Just Peachy!

I’m a little obsessed with peaches these days…after having so much fun with the cobbler, and having plenty of peaches left-over, my son and I decided to carry on with the theme and enjoyed another summertime treat–popsicles!  I have to say it was a really easy and fun snack to make…for kids and adults alike!  The great thing is you can also make healthy versions of these frozen goodies and you don’t really need a recipe either!  I searched around on line for some yummy inspiration and while I found plenty that looked beautiful and sounded delicious, I also came to the conclusion that we could easily make up our own tasty versions!  After a little rummaging around in the fridge we combined what we had, took some guidance from several recipes, and came up with our own frozen concoctions!  See what we froze up…just in time to cool off on a warm summer day!

Lovin’ the Red, White, & Blue!

As I mentioned earlier this week, we’re expecting several visitors over the holiday weekend…and I love having the opportunity to welcome guests with a few festive treats! Fun thing about the 4th of July, all those Memorial Day goodies get to have an encore…one or two fresh items added to the mix and I’ve got the makings for a brand new holiday display! And with multiple guests popping in, I can rearrange my holiday supplies to stretch over the weekend! A simple, patriotic snack buffet is a great way to let guests help themselves to some nibbles & sips at their leisure. For an easy snack table, take some colorful treats and gather them together…

for some red, white, & blue fun!

Who Doesn’t Like a Doughnut Hole?

If there’s one treat that seems to be a universal favorite, I might have to guess it could be the doughnut hole! Small, flavorful, bite-size, and festive…I don’t think there’s many out there that can resist just one, or two, or three! The perfect size for a sweet appetizer and small enough to lessen the guilt factor if you’re watching your sugar! So easy to make look fantastic on a dessert buffet (4th of July is coming…) and they’re available at any doughnut shop or bakery! So go ahead and pile them on for a party or an everyday treat…

’cause who doesn’t like a doughnut hole?

I can’t believe that the final days of school are upon us!  It seems like yesterday that we were heading out to back-to-school-open houses…and here we are wrapping up the school year!  If you find yourself headed to graduation parties over the next several weeks, I have a fun gift idea to share with you!  I wish I could claim this one, but it came from a creative Giggle client who thought of this wonderful gift idea that’s adorable, thoughtful, useful, and won’t break the bank! (especially if you’ve got lots of graduates on your list this year!)  I just loved this idea and had to share it!  So if you know any students ready to head off to college, take a peek…

Blooming Stripes!

If you saw any of the posts about the Giggle Spring Show you may have noticed all the stripey mason jars!  I love canning jars for a multitude of uses…they make great storage options, cute vases, pencil holders–and the list goes on!  Right now I’m infatuated with painted ones…particularly the stripes!  So I not only created plenty for the show–but I have a fair amount around my own home!  They’re really easy to paint to match your decor and they look especially fresh and fun on the patio!  I added a little springtime to my dining room buffet with nothing more than a collection of mason jars painted with stripes…filled with blooms and candle light!

Window Garden

One of my girlfriends asked me to make her some garden tags for her windowsill herbs…and I jumped at the chance to create something fun for her mini garden!  She already had a vision of a printed banner pick…which is perfectly fine for plants living indoors.  Knowing the garden markers didn’t need to resist the elements made the material selection open to more options…including  printed paper!  So off to the craft store I went in search of something to create the base of her garden tags that would suit her style and personality!  I love shopping for “unknown” items…it keeps my mind open and is usually a situation of “I’ll know it when I see it”–and I saw it!  Today I want to share this DIY for indoor garden markers…or make one for a cake topper or anything else you can think of! Take a peek at this fun and easy craft…

Spring brings with it lots of celebrations…and celebrations often go hand-in-hand with gifts and favors!  Today I’d like to share a fun DIY project that will keep you at the ready for any festive event with hand painted tags to tie to all your presents!  Whether you’re giving graduation gifts or simple offerings of thanks…these sweet tags will make anything look special!  A fun project that most kids could do too…take a peek at how easy it is to create a tiny piece of art!

Bloom!

On Monday we celebrated our teachers by hosting an annual Spring Luncheon as a “thank you” from all the parents!  A simple gesture, but much appreciated by the teachers and staff…and a fun excuse to come up with festive decorations to help make them feel special!  The theme was “bloom”…a vision of springtime but also a word representative of how our teachers help cultivate our students over the years–the end result being each child blooming to their full potential!  With very modest decorations it was easy to make the school library look fresh for spring and show our teachers just how much we appreciate all they do!

Accidentally Pretty…

Isn’t it funny how an accident can occasionally turn something into unexpected beauty?  Putting the wrong ingredient into a recipe can possibly make it better…moving your furniture to clean can spark an idea for a better room arrangement…and spilling paint can create a new, edgy design!  Well, something similar happened to me the other day when trying to decorate Easter eggs for the holiday!  A little gold ink was intended for swirling whimsical designs around some wooden eggs…maybe even some cursive messages added in to the dainty doodles–but what I got was a defective ink pen and a mess that turned out to be just right!

Chalk it up to Easter Fun!

There are so many whimsical ways to enjoy Easter activities…and decorating eggs is one of my favorites!  Holiday eggs are so fun…dyes in an array of colors, waxes, stickers, pens and papers transform the common egg into little works of art! Even chalkboard paint has made its entrance onto the egg decorating scene…such a fun idea!  Recently, I found a dozen little chalkboard eggs while I was strolling down the Easter isle!  All packaged like a carton from the dairy section, these plastic imitators will eliminate painting or spraying them by hand…they’ve done the work for you!  And the price…at $1.99 you really can’t go wrong!  Even better, you can erase your Easter doodles for years of creativity!  Go grab some and let your imagination hop on down the bunny trail!

chalk one up for Easter!
