Hot cocoa is a favorite drink at my house…and when the first cool breezes blow I break out the fixin’s for a do-it-yourself cocoa station to take the chill off and satisfy tummies!  Whether you’re hosting an autumn party or just want to create a sweet surprise for your family, a hot cocoa buffet can be really easy to set up in a pinch!  I often keep the basic cocoa supplies in my kitchen all year long…it’s a chocolaty sip that’s even a favored drink on a cool summer evening!  But now that the unofficial end to summer has come and gone, it’s almost that time for sipping on warm drinks and snuggling around a fire!  I hope you can find some inspiration for your hot cocoa stations…no matter where you put them!

Teacher Appreciation Inspiration

Teacher appreciation gifts are such a wonderful way to show our hard working instructors how much we admire them for all they do for our children!  With most schools in full swing now it’s time to be thinking of those little things we can give or do for all the wonderful men and women who teach and inspire our kids to dream big!  Volunteering in the classroom would possibly be one of the best and most helpful ways to show some appreciation..but many times work schedules or little ones at home make it impossible to donate time.  The great news is that you can still come up with simple tokens to remind our teachers how much we care…and I’d like to share a sweet little idea with you today!  A gift never needs to be over the top to make the recipient feel appreciated.  Sometimes the smallest things, when put together with care, can really show someone how grateful we are to have them in our lives!  Have a peek at this simple gift that will have your teachers smiling!

Red, White, Blue…and Sip!

After my patriotic project last week creating the cork firecrackers for my holiday table, I  stayed in the mood for red, white, and blue!  It’s such a fun, summertime color combo whether you’re celebrating a stars & stripes holiday or not!  Inspired by something I saw in a catalog, I decided to try my hand at another really easy project to sweeten up a favorite hot-weather drink…the milkshake!  In our house we seem to be making this favorite treat any time of the year but summer is the season my boys REALLY crave them!  And though the official start of summer hasn’t arrived quite yet…it sure felt like it for a few days making it the perfect time to try this treat out!  The great thing about this project is that you can use the idea for any drink or any time of year…but since patriotic celebrations are on the horizon, I’m sticking with the holiday color trio for my frosty beverages!  See how easy and fun it can be to add some sugar to your sipper…

It certainly has been feeling like summer around here lately!  I was complaining that it had been too chilly…and now all of the sudden it went from cool, spring showers directly into the sweltering dog days of summer!  The temperatures are feeling a lot more like July than May…so it got me a little inspired for some Red, White, and Blue.  And bonus, Memorial Day is just around the corner so this little DIY I have planned for today will be a fun addition to your May 29th celebrations AND the Fourth of July!  So we’ll get right to it today and work on a patriotic project to celebrate those red, white, and blue holidays!
