Christmas decor ideas are swirling around everywhere this time of year! And if you love being home for the holidays, I hope you enjoy some of the inspiration from my house this year. To me, Christmas decorating is all about nostalgia and cozy & comfy vibes. Styling my home for the season is a joy of mine, but if it stresses you out, I have some super simple ideas too! Tiny details can pack a festive punch without much fuss or expense. I’d like to share these ideas with you! Come join me on a little home tour today and find some inspiration for your holiday! It’s time to start decking the halls…
create a christmas home!
if you concentrate your decor into a few key spaces, you can create a full, festive look without decorating every little inch of your home. if you have a mantle, that’s a good place to start!
extra ornaments and garlands from the tree make our bedroom mantle a festive sight too…
keeping things on the neutral side allows me to incorporate any colors i like. besides the bedroom, i added small pops of red throughout the rest of the house…
decor tip:
larger items will make a big impact! don’t shy away from fun goodies that you can display any collection on. this sled is great for holding packages, but nutcrackers or a christmas village would be cute too! no sled? try a large tray, charcuterie board or just cluster your decorations onto the top of your dresser or buffet. the idea is to just make an impact!
little package details are so easy and look so cute! don’t forget you can use some gifts as actual decor…unless the big man is supposed to bring them all!
just because i chose traditional colors doesn’t mean EVERYTHING has to be red or green. soft neutrals & shades of those hues will blend in beautifully…
my christmas tree is a hodpodge of vintage, kid-crafted, and collected ornaments. tons of tinsel gives it old-fashioned charm…and sparkle!
cluster, cluster, cluster!
keeping like items together in a group always looks fantastic and intentional. using an old tool box to hold my bottlebrush trees makes a bigger impact…
and a few extras look sweet tucked under a cloche nestled in a candle ring.
brass candlesticks, which are pretty all year round, shine brighter clustered together…
and a large bowl filled with greens, pine cones & dried flowers makes a statement too…
decor tip:
try filling your vessel with pine cones and nuts, christmas ornaments, or several strands of beaded or felt garland.
boxes, battery candles and twinkle lights seem utilitarian but are the festive focal point of my dining room this year…
the craft store boxes are simply tied with ribbon & topped with berries. so sweet, easy AND inexpensive!
a christmas kitchen
the kitchen only has a few christmas decorations and they’re the easiest too! my mug rack gets a quick change-up for the holiday!
a cabinet filled with easy-to-reach items i use often gets a few merry additions…
it’s as easy as 1,2, christmas tree!
more tiny details!
tiny wreaths are draped over utilitarian items on open shelving. the simplest way to dress them up!
decor tip:
tiny “wreaths” can be created with items you might already have. faux greenery napkin rings are my go-to for the littlest of wreaths! once you add some ribbon no one will ever know! other alternatives can be gift-wrap garland on wire, or small candle rings!
a favorite decoration is simply placed on the bar. sometimes displaying a single item is all it takes!
and an ornament from the tree adds a tiny touch of holiday charm to a side table…easy peasy!
don’t be afraid to leave holiday preparations in plain sight. maple syrup from our farm looks festive while we prepare them as gifts. it’s real life and it can still be pretty!
so as you decorate you might consider picking a few impact areas, clustering your collections, tuck in a few tiny details AND just enjoy…
