Setting the Christmas tabletop is one of my favorite things to do!  Each year I try to mix it up with old and new pieces but generally speaking, I like to set a simple table!  This year I’m keeping things on the traditional/rustic side with pretty greens and live elements…but also some touches of whimsy and fun!  I’m excited to share my table with you as well as a tutorial for a sweet DIY decoration!  So break out the china or the paper products, fresh greenery or faux, elegant baubles or rustic touches…whatever you love!  I hope these ideas will inspire you to…

set the Christmas table!

giggle living may have received payment and/or product. however i only endorse products i love and all opinions are my own

i decided to make a fresh “runner” on my table this holiday…it doesn’t get in the way for visiting with guests AND it’s easy too!

Christmas tabletop

there’s something so simply beautiful about natural elements…and how gorgeous are these Fun to Eat Fruit printed apples for extra holiday cheer!

Christmas tabletop decoorations

i used a combo of artificial and fresh greens to adorn the table…the faux garland helps the “runner” hold it’s shape!  it was easy to simply tuck the apples inside…

Christmas tabletop

did you notice some were glowing?  i added candlelight within the apples themselves!

Christmas tabletop ideas

here’s how you make them…

apple votive diy

all you need:  apples, a cutting board, a sharp knife, lemon, and tealight candles…

pop off the stem…

holiday diy

using the tealight as a template, trace the shape with knife on top of the fruit…

holiday table DIY

cut the circle into fourths, it’s much easier to pop out the flesh this way…

holiday table DIY

once you clear a space for the candle (and it doesn’t have to be perfect),  squeeze some lemon on the exposed flesh and press the tealight into the hole…

holiday table DIY

red delicious apples are softer so don’t make the hole big, just firmly press until the candle fits tightly inside, flush with the top, and sitting evenly so wax won’t drip out when it burns.

holiday DIY

you can place them in sandwich bags & store them in the fridge for several days especially if the candle fits tightly.

back to the table!

i just love the way the apples add something special to the Christmas tabletop…

sweet salad plates inspired some of the other tabletop decorations…

little houses, also filled with candlelight, are tucked into the garland of greens along with the fruit!

Christmas tabletop ideas

a sweet way to create a holiday theme AND use some of my favorite Christmas decorations!

this table is simple but filled with cozy feels!

sweet & simple touches…

who says wall art has to be on the wall?  i love the addition of this rustic sign simply laid at the head of the table…

Christmas table decorations

it’s tradition at my house to always have Christmas Crackers to pop open after the meal!  you’re never too old to anticipate what little trinkets might be hiding inside…

Christmas tabletop ideas

a chair tucked by the buffet is adorned with festive boxes & a tiny wreath…an easy way to add holiday charm to the room!

Christmas decorations

speaking of the buffet…

Christmas decorations

a tiny cake is surrounded by greens and topped with a paper house…an ornament can make a great cake topper!

Christmas decorations

hot cocoa was served with candy canes & edible “sprigs”.  i tucked the beverage topper in like an actual juniper bough…as the cream melts, the topper blends into the melted foam…oh what fun!

i hope you found lots of holiday inspiration!  if you add your favorite elements when you set your Christmas table…you’ll never go wrong!

Love everything about this! You’re genius to put the votives in the apples–so festive! And the lemon squeeze to keep the apples from browning is also an awesome tip!
