Cinnamon ice cream is one of my family’s favorite summertime treats! Actually, we often make this indulgent recipe throughout the year…and since cinnamon is the main flavor, it’s wonderful to serve during autumn AND the holidays too! The inspiration for this yummy dessert was sparked after sampling something similar in an ice cream parlor in Indiana. It was a favorite place for my mom to go when she was a kid, and it’s still operating today! Because this shop is so far away, we concocted our own version to make whenever we got the craving! Today I’d like to share this easy recipe with you…and also a sweet way to serve it! Summer might be winding down, but there’s always room for ice cream!
we all scream for cinnamon ice cream!
it can be really easy to set up a simple & festive ice cream station to dish out this icy treat…(grab the printable recipe at the end of the post)
i used a rustic garden “cart” draped with a garland and filled the top with the cutest accessories from my favorite dollar spot!
let’s start with this tray…the cutest right? i love picking up little trays at great prices. they’re so wonderful for serving treats, even right from the counter!
i also grabbed some acrylic cone holders from the economy bins. i love how they don’t hide the message on the tray!
dropping an ice cream spoon in each cone not only looks darling but can be handy too!
matching napkins are never necessary for a party…but they sure add a fun detail!
and i can’t tell you how much i LOVE this silicon container! you can make the ice cream ahead and it can go from freezer right to the party table!
the detail on the lid is my favorite…
how fun that this delicious ice cream has such a delicious color…and just happened to match all the party goods!
i hope you try this easy recipe and serve up some sweet fun to your peeps this summer…or fall…or winter…
celebrate late summer with cinnamon ice cream!
- 1 Cup whole milk
- 3/4 Cup granulated sugar
- 2 Cups heavy cream
- 1-2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 4-6 drops concentrated cinnamon or 1teaspoon cinnamon extract, or to taste
- 2-3 drops pink food coloring
- In a medium bowl, use a hand mixer or a whisk to combine the milk and the sugar until the sugar is dissolved, about 1-2 minutes
- Stir in the heavy cream, vanilla, cinnamon and food color. Taste between additions of cinnamon.
- Pour into the frozen bowl of the ice cream maker and churn for 20-25 minutes or until cream has set up. (it will be more like soft-serve consistency right from the churn, but will set hard in the freezer)
- Place ice cream in airtight container and keep in the freezer until ready to serve.

Oh yay!! I hope you love it!! We only add the pink coloring because that was the color of the ice cream at my mom’s childhood ice cream shop! 🙂 It would be pretty just natural too!

Oh it’s our most favorite!! We don’t actually have to color it pink, but that’s the color of the ice cream from the shop my mom went to so we wanted to make ours the same! 🙂
