DIY art projects are very popular these days especially during stay-at-home orders. If you’re like me, I’m searching for ways to keep home life as normal as possible and that includes decorating my spaces. And while online shopping is available, crafting is a great way to save money AND fill the hours! I’ve been inspired by some of my social media friends who have framed old calendars to create beautiful wall art. Fortunately I happened to save a lovely 2019 calendar that I had received as a gift from a girlfriend! So I decided to give it a second life! Let me share with you how simple this craft can be, and if you don’t have a calendar on hand, try kid artwork, pages from a favorite book, or even scraps of fabric or pretty craft paper! Let’s get crafting so we can keep busy and create!
DIY art…good for the soul!
i loved the pretty Gwen Frostic prints in this calendar…
i have memories of visiting her print shop with my mom when i was young, so not only are the block prints beautiful, they hold memories too!
all you need is a pair of scissors or paper cutter, your frames (new or recycled), and a pencil!
remove the pages from the binding…
i used the glass from my frames to measure the size…
then cut each page to fit. i have a simple paper cutter, but scissors will work just fine!
it’s really that easy! if you’re using greeting cards or something smaller, you can order matte board online from most craft stores to fit the frames you’re using!
since i was using a calendar, i cut all 12 months so i can change out the seasons if i want! summer…
or fall…
but for now…a trio of springtime!
they brighten up the corner of my sun room beautifully…and for pennies!
what will you frame?

Sometimes calendars are so pretty, it’s a shame to throw them away. We should all plan next year’s decor when we buy our calendars.

They are so pretty these days aren’t they? I’ll keep that in mind again when I get next years! 🙂
