easy, last-minute 4th of July beverage…
i found this darling beverage cart at a local garage sale last year, but fortunately you don’t need a cart to serve up some holiday sips! a tiny table or even a tray can hold the simple supplies needed to keep your guests cool…
i used the watermelon itself as the bowl to dish out the punch…
i think it looks so fun served like this and how pretty is the color?! perfect for a red, white and blue celebration!
simple mason jars look so cute tied up with bakers twine…they make a rustic addition to the cart!
but extra paper cups will work just fine after all the jars are gone! it’s always a good idea to have some additional cups on hand for any party!
and the decor also stays simple…paper globes and a stars-and-stripes banner are just enough to make my cart holiday-ready!
i just love this sweet banner i picked up last season…i bet if you look through your old decorations, you’ll find something you forgot you had! and make sure to check out your local stores for after-holiday sales to hopefully find a new treasure to put away for next year! be sure to grab the printable recipe and whip up this family-friendly punch!
and have a safe and festive 4th of July!
- 1 large watermelon pulp removed
- 2 Cups frozen strawberries
- 1/2 Cup sugar
- 3 Cups setlzer water
- ice cream or sorbet, optional
- To make the serving bowl: slice a small portion of the bottom of the melon so that it will stand. Then cut off the top and scoop out the pulp with a large spoon. (and ice cream spoon works well) Cover rind with plastic wrap and chill.
- In a blender or food processor blend the melon, sugar and berries. Remove and press through a fine sieve. Discard the solids.
- Add the seltzer and chill. Pour into the chilled rind and serve directly from the melon.
- Can add scoops of ice cream or sorbet as an option.
