It’s often fun to decorate a mantle…especially during holidays! You may remember me saying however, that I struggle with my mine…it’s been a love/hate relationship that has gone on for years! Well, while hashing out ideas with Sarah for all our holiday happenings–an idea occurred…I’ve had so much fun with my chalkboard wall in the kitchen–why not over the mantle? Sarah enthusiastically encouraged me to try it–it’s only paint after all! So here’s an idea for something unexpected & a new favorite thing–a chalkboard mantle! It can change with the seasons, it was inexpensive and most importantly, it’s a lot of fun!
chalk one up for the holidays!
the inset over the mantle is painted with charcoal chalk paint…offered in a variety of colors…find one that works for you!
a Giggle dotty pillow looks festive!
i tried three other drawings before settling on this design!
chalk templates & stencils are available if sketching isn’t your thing–but if you like to draw…there’s hundreds of ideas out there to inspire you! i found a version of my drawing on pinterest, altered it a bit, and gave it my best shot!
simple pom poms and rice lights are strewn across the mantle top–so easy!
and a simple garland with burlap ribbon frames the chalk inset
brown & white paper polka dots made with a punch provide more dotty whimsy!
if you want to try something new, this was certainly a fun project. if you can’t paint your mantle, try hanging a framed chalk board instead…it just so happens we know where you can get one!
