Fun with s’mores isn’t over just because summer is winding down! In fact, my family actually eats more of this gooey treat during autumn than any other time of year! When the temperatures begin to drop we look forward to gathering around a fire & roasting those mallows to then squish them between chocolates & cookie crackers! (not to mention eating them!) We’re lucky to have a pretty lengthy fall around here so I love coming up with new ways to enjoy this sweet treat all season long! Today I’ve pulled together three fun ways to serve them with a twist along with tutorials & recipes to help make it easier! I’m even sharing a couple decorating favorites AND a simple hack should you encounter a baking disaster! 🙂 Let’s stock up on the traditional supplies…and add s’more ooey gooey delight to your fall festivities!
let’s have s’more fun with s’mores!

s’mores cake & cupcakes
if you love s’mores AND you love cupcakes…why not merge them into one?
it’s really easy to do, and you can set up a darling treat table at the same time!
i had a little mishap with this semi-homemade treat when the cupcakes tipped over on the ride home from the market! but i carefully placed the icing back on top and covered the “oopsies” with some crushed graham crackers, mini mallows & a piece of chocolate. since s’mores are naturally gooey & messy, they were perfectly fine…life happens, so make the best out of it!
if you’re only serving a few guests…i love using fake cakes to fill up my table with faux fun! they’re such a festive decoration and can be used over and over again! to tie in this theme, i sprinkled some mini mallows on the bottom layer…and you could do the same with a real cake too!
an artificial gourd makes a pretty, seasonal topper and is effortless to place on top!
so treat yourself to some semi-homemade s’mores cupcakes…and maybe a fake cake or two!
s’mores wafers
cupcakes are fabulous as the base of semi-homemade treats…but so are wafer cookies! this fun twist on a s’more is not only delicious but cute too!
here’s what you need to make them:
wafer cookies
chocolate chips
crushed graham crackers
extra mini mallows
chocolate bar
bowl, spoon, wax or parchment paper
i loved these over-sized chocolate-filled wafer cookies, but any size will do…
you can buy crushed graham crackers but i like the look of a chunkier mix so i smashed my own. just fill a baggie with a few crackers and use a rolling pin or even your hands to crush them. small bowls will keep all the supplies handy…
tiny marshmallows…
Hershey’s pieces…
melt your chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl…
and lay out a piece of parchment paper to decorate your cookies on…
just using the back of your spoon, make a stripe of chocolate across the cookie just a bit higher than the middle…
sprinkle with the crushed graham crackers and then make another stripe above that…
press mini marshmallows into the top stripe…
dunk the corner of a chocolate piece into the melted chips and stick it onto the cookie making it 3 dimensional…
the mini marshmallows will help hold it upright until the chocolate sets up!
let the cookies set until the chocolate is firm and dry to the touch and the Hershey’s piece feels secure.
pile them on a plate and enjoy!
(wafer cookies are hard to keep crispy for a long time…so don’t make them more than a day ahead.)
s’mores doughnuts
we love doughnuts in our house! and wouldn’t you know, it’s easy to serve them in s’mores fashion too! pop some on a pretty stand and you’ve got a treat no one can resist!
doughnuts are a deliciously easy to alter! serve up an assortment and add a little s’mores magic to the plain ones…(i’ll share the semi-homemade recipe at the end of the post!)
they might get gobbled up faster than the rest by simply adding some chocolate glaze, crushed graham crackers and a toasted marshmallow on top!
whether for breakfast or an after-school snack, this treat table is so easy that you’ll have time to add a message that plays on the theme! a chalkboard is another useful party decoration that you can customize for ANY celebration!
if you’re serving doughnuts, you’ll probably want milk to wash it all down…
tiny bottles always look sweet especially when adorned with a bright paper straw!
and i love these fun plates for all kinds of snack tables…
what a yummy way to enjoy the flavors of fall AND s’mores…
do you want to have s’more doughnut fun?
grab this super easy recipe…
- 6 plain doughnuts
- 1 1/2 Cup powdered sugar
- 4 Tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2 Tablespoons milk or water
- 2 Teaspoons vanilla
- 1/2 Cup crushed graham cracker
- 6 large marshmallows
- For the glaze: Sift the powdered sugar and cocoa powder together in a medium bowl.
- Add the milk or water and vanilla and stir until it becomes blended and easy to pour or drip over the doughnuts.
- Pour the glaze over each doughnut OR dunk one side of the doughnut right into the bowl for a thicker glaze.
- Add the marshmallow to the center being sure that it is in the glaze so it will be held in place. Sprinkle with graham cracker crumbs.
- With a torch, carefully toast the top of each marshmallow. If it catches fire just blow it out and keep moving the torch from side to side until you get the desired amount of toasting. If you don't have a torch, place the marshmallows on a parchment lined pan and toast them in the broiler before adding them to the top of the doughnut OR just add mini marshmallows to the graham crackers as sprinkles on top!
- Set on platter and serve while the marshmallows are warm.
hope you’re inspired
to have s’more fun with s’mores!
