A grownup birthday party can be every bit as special as the festive shindigs we throw for the kiddos! I love all the sweet details you can add to make a child’s party darling…but as my boys have grown, they eventually stopped wanting those cutie-pie decorations. And while I totally understand, I still miss adding those whimsical touches to their parties…so, what’s a girl to do? Save the cutsie decorations for the grownups! You can still keep it simple without skimping on the fun factor…and maybe serve an adult beverage too! Today I’d like to share these easy DIY party ideas for celebrating…and it’s “purr-fectly” festive!
big-girl birthday party fun!

you don’t need a big spread or a big space to set a festive surprise! a little table, cabinet, or even some empty counter space is the perfect spot to hold some party goodies!
i also love recycling my decorations! the backdrop is simply a frame with silk blooms stapled to the base…it used to adorn my fireplace mantle! the paper & felt garlands have also seen their fair share of parties…i store them in a small container to keep them fresh until next time!
since adults-only will be at this little shindig, serving some vino is perfectly OK! how adorable is this bottle which inspired the entire theme!
and it’s my opinion that you’re never too old to wear a pretty party hat! even the kitty gets in on the fun…
these paper chapeaus make this tiny party festively sweet…and just might bring on a giggle or two!
the pompoms on top inspired me to mimic the design around the cake stand…
i’m giddy for how versatile this dessert stand is. i just pushed the poms right into the perforations! what a fun way to highlight the little cake with something unexpected…
an artificial bloom makes a beautiful cake topper too! not only does it mimic the backdrop and pattern on the hats, but you can wipe it clean and use it again and again!
and did you notice the sweet paper napkins? another inexpensive way to tie in the whimsical theme with a useful supply!
most packs of decorative napkins cost less than $3 and you can find them in practically any pattern…how lucky this design included kitties AND party hats!
these simple supplies and repurposed decorations can become something special!
so don your party hat and get ready for some grownup birthday fun!
cheers to the grownup birthday party!

Thanks Susan! I agree about huge themes, they can seem overwhelming. Sometimes the simplest thing can make a really fun and easy “theme”!
