Easter is late on the calendar this year but that’s no reason to put off getting ready for some bunny lovin’ fun! In a way it’s kind of nice that the holiday will be late…1: it will undoubtedly be warmer for enjoying egg hunts, services, and festivities, and 2: it gives us more time to enjoy the season and all the decorations that go with it! I received some darling supplies the other day from Oriental Trading and I can hardly wait to get started on some spring-inspired projects and party ideas! Today I’d like to share a whimsical centerpiece that I plan on using on my Easter buffet! A really easy way to combine table decor that double-duties as favors for your guests…and you can create it with the simplest supplies too! Take a peek at what’s…
hoppin’ down the bunny trail!
i love it when party decorations serve more than one purpose! it makes life that much easier but with no less festivity! when i got these darling chocolate bunny “eggs” from Oriental Trading i knew i had to do more than just hide them…they were just too cute to tuck away until Easter morning!
i thought they would make a really sweet favor for guests coming in for Easter dinner or just a springtime celebration. the idea came to make a display with these cuties acting as tiny gifts for guests of all ages to take home! so i filled them with a favorite candy…springtime m&ms!
they’re so cute on their own it was really easy to make them look special enough to serve as a centerpiece for a treat buffet. i only used a couple extra supplies to add to the cuteness factor! a mini party lei…
some strips of paper grass…
and some chocolate shavings! you can create your own or find similar choices at baking supply or grocery stores. i keep mine in the freezer for a short time to pop out when i need them. if you do this they might look a little frosty until they come to room temp…but i love having goodies like these on hand for just such an occasion! since the bunny candy containers look like the traditional chocolate goodies found in an Easter basket, i thought it was fitting to substitute the Easter grass with these chocolatey curls!
i used some double-sided tape to attach a piece of the party lei to the rim of a cake stand and topped it with the candy-filled bunnies…
then sprinkled the chocolatey curls around them!
a printed sign lets guests know they’re for the taking! i simply glued some paper grass to the stock print from my computer…
and i made it freestanding by using a smidge of washi tape to adhere it to the backside of two candy containers…
and just look how cute it is…nothing fancy but just darling!
now i can just put the stand of sweetness on my buffet or table and let all my peeps take one when they go!
you could create the same effect with traditional plastic eggs too! pile them on a stand or in an Easter basket…a fun and functional way to decorate AND give!
“hoppy” springtime everyone!
