Halloween will be here in just a couple days…and the weather (in my neck of the woods) looks to be promising this year! If you’re hosting parties or handing out treats to all those visiting ghouls and goblins, you may want to light the pathway to your front door! Luminaries always look lovely…brightening a path or just adding some sparkle to a celebration! I love to use them whenever we have nighttime gatherings…any kind of candlelight is always an enchanting touch! And flickering flames are especially fun at Halloween, casting shadows that can be spooky and mysterious….adding holiday charm! Today I’d like to share some festive, easy, and inexpensive ways to light the All Hallows Eve night…making sure those trick-or-treat goers will find their way to candy! From traditional to the unexpected, see how simple it is to lead the way to some Halloween fun!
light it up!
one of the easiest ways to light up a path is with traditional bag luminaries! so many stores sell them in a multitude of styles…
i love the cut-outs for casting a spooky glow…but you can easily make your own luminary bags by using a lunch sack decorated with a sticker or a stamp. a battery candle inside will back-light whatever embellishment you add! and that brings me to an important message…ALWAYS use battery candles inside anything made from paper!
recycle, reuse…
i love to recycle unused items…i like to think i get every penny out of what i spend! so this next idea was inspired from trying to use up some spooky supplies! i also love canning jars…so i’m sure it’s no surprise that i use them often as luminaries. you can actually use real candles in these…but the battery version is still a safer choice! i found some jelly jars that will look so festive embellished with some leftover cupcake picks!
a tiny strip of ribbon holds the silly witches in place…so easy AND cute!
a whimsical sight lighting the walk…
a nostalgic favorite…
i’m also very partial to the traditional plastic treat buckets with their grinning faces…
but since my boys have passed the days of carrying these cute guys, i decided to find a new way to put my holiday favorites to good use…as luminaries!
with battery votive candles flickering inside, they sweetly light the path in our yard…
so how will you light up the night at your house on All Hallows Eve?
