A mini pumpkin topiary is such a fun and easy thing to create! Not only is it a darling decoration, but it would make a fantastic gift for your Halloween-loving peeps! I’m sure you’ve seen larger versions of stacked pumpkins & gourds in urns on front doorsteps. Inspired by the big ones…this mini variety is easier to handle while crafting, inexpensive, and will be a unique addition to your holiday decor! Let me share how simple it is…

how cute it this sweet & not-so-scary guy?
here’s what you need to make him:
an assortment of mini gourds in varying sizes
hot glue
tube of construction adhesive or epoxy (found in hardware & home improvement stores)
nippers (optional)
moss
tiny artificial flowers or leaves
Halloween embellishment (optional)
gather your gourds in groups of three for the topiary. largest for the bottom, medium in the middle and tiny on top!
the top gourd will be the only one with the stem left intact…so pick your favorites!
the others will need to have their stems removed. you can carefully break them off…but some can be stubborn and might require nippers for gripping or cutting.
the longer the stem, the easier to grip and pop off…
you might see that they seep a little. not to worry, just wipe off the moisture…
and use the hot glue to seal where the stem was. add extra to help hold the second layer on the base…
be sure to combine some construction adhesive to the hot glue.
DIY tip:
the hot glue will just temporarily hold the gourds in place as you stack them. sometimes this type of adhesive will NOT permanently work on the surface of pumpkins and gourds. the construction caulk will be the glue that keeps the topiaries together without the risk of them coming apart later on or while handling them.
keep stacking your topiary…and don’t worry if any of the stems don’t come completely off. most gourds have a slight cavity on the bottom that will fit right over!
once you have all three together, let them sit until they are firmly set. (follow adhesive instructions) then you can decorate!
mini pumpkin topiary embellishments!
i used moss and just a couple faux blooms to tuck into each layer. this looks pretty and also covers any areas of visible glue!
you can use the hot glue for this portion and work your way around each layer. then start adding your flowers…
when you’re done you’ll have a pretty little topiary perfect for fall!
but since it IS October…these little 3-D stickers are fun!
i attached one on each with the tape provided. if the topiary lasts beyond the month…i can just pop the bat off!
fun “boo” gifts that will make anyone smile!
