All week I’m sharing some really fun and easy snacks to serve up this October! I love being in the kitchen during the holidays, but Halloween is exceptionally whimsical and forgiving when it comes to the outcome of the sugary creations! It flings the pressure of baking perfection right out the window and allows us to have unfettered fun…which is exactly what we did! Even the boys got involved preparing some sweet and even goofy additions to a holiday snack mix I’ll be serving up soon! Have a look at what was brewing…
a monster good time!
the kitchen counter was a bit of a production line making the funny faces to blend into a Halloween snack mix…
it only takes a few simple ingredients to make these guys…mini pretzels, chocolate, candy eyes, and gummy teeth! of course, you can add more embellishments or delete some…anything goes when creating monsters! i found most items at the grocery store but the candy eyes came from Michael’s Stores and the gummy fangs from Target…
i used parchment sheets to lay under all the pretzels and then topped them with a dollop of melted chocolate…
we made white and milk chocolate monsters and added coordinated sprinkles to each!
we cut some of the fangs to make buck teeth and sliced over-sized baking bits into “smiles”…and then the real fun began!
these guys are so darn cute…
and some, well let’s just say they’re perfect for Halloween! (the buck-teeth beauties were the boy’s favorites!)
let them sit until they’re totally cool and can easily pop off of the parchment. then you can add them to any traditional snack mix…we used Chex mix, mini marshmallows, and M & M’s…
large baking cups will be a perfect way to serve them up at a Halloween gathering…
and they’ll keep well in an airtight container so you can have plenty of monster mix for all your holiday entertaining!
leftover fang fun…
and since the gummy fangs were such a hit, i hated for them to go to waste…so honey glazed monsters it was! a silly, after school snack for my production line helpers!
