So, I hate to mention this fact but it is now beyond the halfway point in June! What? It seems like school just got out yesterday and now it’s already time to gear up for all those Fourth of July festivities! I hear that some people believe when the 4th arrives the summer is half over…and some believe that the holiday is the official celebration to the beginning of the summer season…I think I’d like to go with the latter! It is true, as vacation standards go, the summer CAN be half over when you consider early start-dates or school activities that begin well before the first day of classes. But I’m not going to concentrate on that fact…I’m here to share some inspiration for summer fun and celebrations that have really JUST begun! So today I’m seeing stars…a fun theme for a patriotic or ANY type of party!
star-spangled snacks!
if you’re having guests for some holiday celebrations or just some kids in for some hanging out in the yard…it can be really simple to set up something festive! i’m all about easy snacks and just because you grabbed them at the grocer doesn’t mean they can’t get gussied up for the occasion! some simple boxes of Cracker Jacks look star-studded with a glitter star taped to the box!
and how about the patriotic chips served up in a star (which was sold as a Christmas candle holder)…
i kept it simple with the drinks by setting out some infused waters in mason jars. blackberries & strawberries add some holiday color & flavor to a utilitarian drink…the darling straws are the crowning touch!
i adore tissue tassel banners! they’re a really easy way to make any display festive…and i’ll be sharing one of my favorite places to get the most gorgeous banners at the end of the post! paper die-cut stars from the party store are simply taped to the front of my table…another super easy and inexpensive way to add a thematic element!
you may recognize my baking cups on the cake stand…i really like to get as much mileage from my party supplies as i can! there’s no shame in that! if you have extra party supplies you should find ways to use them up…even if you mix and match them with new ones! these cups hold a tried & true favorite for kids AND adults…rice krispie treats cut into little stars!
all you need is a cutter to shape up your treats! i also discovered this doughnut glaze which is my new decorating favorite!
i had fun experimenting…
but ultimately decided on the glaze and gummy treat toppers for my snack cups. two plain krispies stacked underneath the decorated one fill up the container and a holiday pick holds them together like a sweet kebab!
a couple paper globes scattered underneath the table is an easy way to fill empty spaces and it just gives another pop of color! let your simple supplies work for you in making it really effortless to celebrate!
oh my stars!
it’s time for the Fourth!
