Each October our family heads off to the apple orchard for a day of picking our favorites right from the tree! Not only has it become a fun tradition of picking…and eventually peeling and pie baking…but an opportunity to sample some cider doughnuts, purchase pumpkins & gourds and make fond memories! It wouldn’t be autumn for my family if we didn’t take a trip to the orchard…
to pick a peck!
bounty at the tip top!
varieties are plentiful but our favorites are Granny Smith & Jonathan…
just right for my grandma’s pie filling recipe!
…i think this is more than a bushel and a peck!
it doesn’t get much better than fresh picked…
so whether you’re thinking of baking or just eating…make a trip to your local orchard
and pick a peck to take home!
on Friday we will share my grandmother’s apple pie recipe…
