Super Bowl Sunday is less than two weeks away…so it’s not too early to begin thinking about your menu! We have a family tradition of making a huge tray of wings for game night munching. And while wings are delicious, they’ve never been my absolute favorite food, amplified by the fact that they’re inevitably messy! So along side the wings…I always create a secondary snack that’s easy, filling and delicious too! This year I’m going to serve up some simple sandwiches but with a super spicy twist! Sriracha slaw piled high on a ham & cheese stuffed baguette is not only the easiest thing to make…but it gives that simple sandwich a feisty bite! Let’s root for our favorite team…and nibble the night away!
Super Bowl Sunday…super easy snacking!
giggle living may have received payment and/or product. however i only endorse products i love and all opinions are my own
a few party supplies can make a simple spread fit for football fun!
let’s begin with the sriracha slaw sandwiches!
here’s what you’ll need…
French baguette
shaved ham
gruyere cheese (or any swiss variety)
sriracha slaw (grab the recipe at the end of the post)
parchment paper or paper sandwich bags
gather the ingredients and make these sandwiches cold OR warm. either way, the slaw gives them a boost of delicious flavor!
before you begin assembling, cut some strips of parchment paper to wrap around each sandwich…
slice the baguette and top with cheese and ham. (you could try toasting them at this point if you desire, which is my favorite way to eat them!)
make the slaw just before you assemble the sandwiches. if you prepare it too far ahead it could become runny.
add a dollop to the hot or cold sandwiches…
and wrap them up tight with parchment and a napkin, tucking in the bottoms to keep them tidy!
stack ’em up…and enjoy!
serve up the simple spread!
individual bowls of potato salad and snack boxes of munchies are perfect accompaniments to the spicy sandwiches…
and for something sweet…
vanilla cupcakes topped with cookies!
how darling are these little biscuits to spell out what ever you wish…
if you don’t have a favorite team this year, keeping it generic is no less fun…or tasty!
keep it simple…keep it fun…and keep it delicious!
enjoy super bowl sunday sandwiches & snacks!

grab the printable recipe…
- 1 loaf crusty French Baguette
- 1 lbs very thin shaved ham it's ok if its falling apart
- 1/2 lb sliced gruyere cheese
- 3 Cups coleslaw mix with carrots
- 1 Cup shredded red cabbage
- 3/4 Cup mayo
- 2-3 Tablespoons sriracha sauce to taste
- 2-4 Tablespoons cilantro, chopped or more if you love cilantro
- Cut the baguettes into quarters and slice. Place bread on a parchment lined baking sheet. Add cheese slices to half of the slices and toast all in a 300 degree oven (or toaster oven) until cheese begins to melt and plain halves are slightly golden. Add ham, turn the oven off and and place baking sheet back in the oven to let the meat warm while you prepare the slaw. Turning the oven off will allow the ham to warm up without the bread getting too brown. (You can also just bake full baguettes in the oven until crispy. Slice and then assemble.)
- While the ham warms, add the coleslaw mix to a medium bowl along with the cabbage and cilantro. add the mayo and stir until coated. Add sriracha sauce one tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired level of spice. Pile mix on top of warm sandwiches. Top with plain half of bread and enjoy!
