Sushi served on the patio is an easy and delicious way to celebrate summer! Now that outdoor dining weather is finally here, this simple meal idea couldn’t be easier for it. And if you’re like me, I’m always up for anything alfresco! Grab a few rolls from your favorite carryout or grocer and fill a sampler plate for your guests…it can be as simple as that! And you know how I love to reuse & recycle so I’m sharing a few affordable ways to make it feel festive too! Grab your chopsticks and let’s take this party outside!
sushi, nibbles & sips!
sushi is one of my favorite appetizers or light meals to serve during warm seasons. set a simple patio table and enjoy…
to make the out-of-the-box meal seem special, all i did was add a few extras and plate it up pretty!
trios of sushi circle the dipping sauce along with asparagus & cucumber. an easy presentation that’s visually interesting!
several varieties keep it fun! spicy…
crunchy…
and healthy & vegetarian…
the yum yum sauce gets a topping of chives to make it look fancy…even though it’s anything but!
you can add extra nibbles if you wish. i included individual bowls of edamame pods & wasabi almonds!
i love to make casual centerpieces useful by tucking in utensils & condiments
this upcyled tray not only holds some pretty items but chopsticks and soy sauce too!
entertaining tip:
if serving extra condiments, think about pouring them into a decorative pitcher or bowl. the soy sauce here is in a small oil & vinegar cruet, but you could use any little pitcher, jar, or creamer you have on hand. if it doesn’t have a spout, include a small ladle or spoon.
i shopped my house for some mix-matched candles, a dollar-spot find, and a recycled vase that was once a candle holder.
i used the leftover, uncooked stems from the asparagus on the plates to create this fun arrangement! moral of the story? you can recycle just about ANYTHING!
it’s easy to do…i just put an empty spice jar in the center of my glass vessel to hold water, and stood the asparagus stems up around it! so easy!
and since this meal is all about sampling, how about some sipping samples too? how cute are these tiny glasses for tasting…
a ceramic pot makes a great stand-in for a wine bucket! ( just be sure it has a stopper for the drain hole)
simple, delicious, fun, AND affordable!
sushi served up summertime!
