whimsical desserts with woodland flair!
giggle living may have received payment and/or product. however i only endorse products i love and all opinions are my own.
get creative with your halloween treat table by adding something unexpected…
i’m obsessed with mushrooms so why not incorporate them? a tiny centerpiece compliments the woodland whimsy…
you can carry it over to the garland too!
decor tip:
you can add a 3-d look to a hanging garland by simply tying on tiny pieces of floral foam with twine. add moss to cover the foam, then insert a toothpick into your mushroom and use that to hold the moss in place. you could also use faux flowers or any other tiny decoration that could be inserted into the foam.
the desserts!
chocolate went along with the moody color vibe…and the little mushroom toppers fit the theme!
cordial glasses made the cutest vessels for the tiny trifles…
topped with purchased cookies & mint, these little desserts are a sweet addition to the trick or treat table!
dessert tip:
to get your top layer on the trifle to fit perfectly, use your serving “bowl” to make an outline in your brownie/cake then cut with a sharp knife. the edges don’t have to be perfect, you won’t see them once you press it in your container. gently press the toppings into the cake and sprinkle with mossy sand! you can make this by grinding graham crackers with a little green food color!
a full-size grocery cake compliments the individual desserts and shows off some marshmallow…you guessed it…mushrooms!
here’s how you make them…
these purchased mallows when paired together will take on a mushroom shape!
heat a greased skillet over medium heat…
gently touch the “stem” to the hot pan until it begins to melt…
immediately press it into the marshmallow “top” to create the sweet mushie…
once they set they’ll make the cutest toppers for dessert OR for cocoa!
speaking of cocoa…this colorful pumpkin on the cake is actually a cocoa bomb! a fun way to consume the ENTIRE cake!
use toothpicks to insert the mallows to the cake. sprinkle with more sandy moss, and a few sprigs of fresh mint. dried, edible blooms add another beautiful but easy detail!
if you’re inspired, i hope you give the semi-homemade fun a try! your ghouls & goblins will adore a simple table…
