Winter treats are the perfect way to beat the winter blues! Now that the holiday festivities are over it seems everyone is ready to freshen up, organize spaces, get moving, and cut back on the sugary desserts…at least for a while! I’m right there with the majority trying to accomplish these January goals…but I just can’t completely forgo the goodies! Because I’m generally an everything-in-moderation kind of gal, I’m still going to occasionally serve up the sweets for my family and friends to indulge on while we brave the winter! And since it seems that almost the entire nation has been in a deep freeze for most of the holiday break, I decided to serve some January goodies that would reflect this current weather situation! To keep our spirits up while we were hunkered down indoors I whipped up some sweet, winter fun by setting up a simple dessert table that would even satisfy Jack Frost! So if you need some party inspiration or just want to celebrate a snow day…check out the fun!
baby it’s cold outside…so stay inside for winter treats!
i actually love hunkering down during the winter…it’s the perfect excuse to have an indoor celebration!
let’s decorate!
winter treats are especially easy because you often can reuse some of your holiday decorations & supplies!
snowflakes that i removed from a twine garland were added to the edges of my cake stands! if you don’t have a stand with perforations…some sticky dots will hold the flakes in place!
my favorite snowmen picks were perfect for popping on top of ice cream cookie treats!
cold like a snowball…but they taste much better! you can find these Blue Bunny treats in the grocer’s freezer!
toasty sips!
hot chocolates are PERFECT for taking the chill off! try topping them with doughnuts garnished with extra sprinkles to give them an icy appearance!
these darling cups were also leftover from a previous party…but i still had just enough for some family fun!
the stir-sticks (which come with the cups) look sweet in a container filled with more snow…this time in sprinkle form!
and sitting in front of the toasty sips are some cookies we made with our holiday cutters!
let’s bake!
not only are cookies fun to eat…but they’re such a fun, family activity on a snow day! and by reusing some of our holiday baking decorations we already had everything we needed!
white and silvery sprinkles were perfect for decorating the snowflakes…and doughnuts!
i love how fun sprinkles can transform a cookie…even a novice like me can make a treat look grand!
by putting our cookies on plastic plates, the snowflakes beneath showed through! a fun way to display the edible ones!
the flakes look cute under the napkins too…
more easy, snowy treats!
i LOVE powdered doughnut holes for snack tables…almost as much as my boys love eating them!
they’re so yummy and look like little snowballs…a delicious and EASY addition to a winter treat table!
winter wonderland!
on the adjacent buffet, i wasn’t quite ready to lose ALL the holiday decor…so some post-holiday sale items made a fun wintry scene to keep up a bit longer!
a great reminder to make sure to scour the sale shelves! this little forest looks so enchanting and will DEFINITELY have an encore next Christmas!
and a little strand of snowflake lights add more sparkle in the paper shred…an inexpensive substitute for snow!
so while the cold winds blow, you can have some snowy, indoor fun…
staying toasty while enjoying goodies & decorations that fit the season perfectly!
celebrate with winter treats!

Oh Lori – you are so clever and creative. I just love the idea of this party and it’s certainly cold here still, but celebrating it this way, makes it totally ok. I just love every single detail and those cupcake toppers are adorable. And, you know I adore your chalkboard sign.
